CORNERSTONE CHURCH ACQUIRE THE MFI SITE –3-Mar-2010
David Hargreaves of Fisher Hargreaves Proctor has acquired the former MFI store and site on Castle Boulevard in Nottingham for Cornerstone Church.
The property which comprises a site of approximately 1.5 acres and 2 buildings of 31,445 sq ft was marketed by Jonathon Seddon of NG Chartered Surveyors and has been sold at a price of £2,750,000.
David Hargreaves, who introduced the opportunity to Cornerstone Church, confirmed that planning consent has now been secured to allow the use of the premises for Church purposes.
Jonathon Seddon commented: “I was delighted that we were able to agree terms with the Church as Nottingham City Council had made it apparent that they would resist a wide variety of different uses for the sites”.
Cornerstone Church has been meeting in various locations within the city for many years and has been meeting at Bluecoat School in Wollaton for the past 16 years.
Paul Couchman, building project manager for Cornerstone Church confirmed that work has now begun on designs for a new Church building to accommodate a Sunday congregation of over 700 people as well as providing facilities for the various activities for the Church throughout the week.
Paul Couchman said: “We are thrilled that through David Hargreaves we have been able to acquire such a high profile site which will accommodate all our future needs. David not only introduced the opportunity to us before it came to the wider market, but also was able to secure the property at a competitive price and guide the Church step by step through the minefield of property acquisitions. The Leadership of the Church are tremendously grateful to FHP for their efforts in making this possible. We are very excited about the possibilities that this site will open up for the life and work of the Church in the city and further afield.”
