Since joining FHP on work experience, I have risen to the position of Associate Partner involved in developing the professional side of FHP’s business with a particular focus on Rating and Healthcare.
At a time when the economy is recovering and every penny counts, I take great pleasure in ensuring clients are paying the correct level of Business Rates – and if they aren’t, in pursuing all options open to ensure the liabilities are reduced to the correct level and the client is reimbursed for their overpayments.
Conversely, in the Healthcare Sector I spend a lot of time advising doctors on matters such as Notional Rent Remuneration – in this instance I fight to improve their levels of reimbursement to ensure they are paid what they're entitled to!
Specialising in both these sectors allows me to work closely with people where I can add real value and I get great satisfaction in undertaking work that makes a real difference to my clients.
Current Role
- Advising GPs throughout the country on all property matters, with primary focus on challenging Notional Rent Assessments, advising upon new surgery developments, exploring Sale and Leaseback opportunities and providing Partnership Valuations as partners of surgeries come and go!
- Advising numerous clients across all sectors of property on Business Rate Liabilities
- Working closely with Agents on vacant stock to minimise landlords' exposure to Empty Business Rate Liabilities
- Continuing to undertake Rent Reviews in respect of 94,000 sq ft of industrial premises at Glaisdale Point
Interests
A real love of sport is a common theme within the FHP office and I'm not alone in my love of cricket, golf and football. I used to be an active cricketer and lived the dream of playing a winter of cricket in Australia, but my primary focus now is to reduce my 12 handicap to single figures, although the expense on having to replace golf ball after golf ball is starting to take its toll – they really should make them so they float!!
love to go abroad and ski (slowly) in the winter and enjoy warmer climes in the summer – with of course the obligatory beach Olympics scheduled in!
I'm lucky enough to have a wide circle of friends who enjoy the same interests - many work at FHP, which leads to a lot of 'friendly' competition! I love the competitive side of sport and believe many of those skills transfer into the business world.
