Industrial/Warehouse News

An opportunity has arisen for someone to let a whole terminal building of one of the UK’s busiest air freight hubs.

Cargo Terminal Three has come on the market at East Midlands Airport, offering more than 35,000 sq ft of warehouse space plus extensive external yard areas right next to the Cargo East Apron.

The large warehouse facility is on the market with Nottingham and Derby-based Fisher Hargreaves Proctor (FHP) and the Nottingham office of global real estate advisor Savills.

Jason King, commercial contracts manager for the airport, said:

“East Midlands Airport is a key business location in the region, playing a critical role in the global cargo network, with 90 per cent of England and Wales within a four-hour drive.

It is fairly rare for a whole terminal building to come on the market and we anticipate high levels of interest due to the connectivity of the airport location.”

Ian Muxlow, director of Savills in Nottingham, said:

“Warehouse space at East Midlands Airport rarely becomes available, so we anticipate strong interest from logistics companies looking for a central UK location and excellent road links.

When you also consider the international air links and the supplementary facilities available on-site, the airport as a location stands out as being more than just your average out-of-town business park.”

Tim Gilbertson, Director at FHP, said:

“As well as access to the global marketplace, a big benefit of an on-airport location is the high level of security, which is especially important for distribution or logistics companies.

This is a rare opportunity to secure a well-configured building – the particularly extensive yard space will be attractive to businesses with a requirement for vehicle parking or additional external storage. We hope that interest will be received quickly”.

The unit is available for immediate occupation and offers dock level and ground level access doors and an eaves height of 15ft 9ins.

East Midlands Airport is the busiest pure freight airport in the UK and is the second largest cargo airport after London Heathrow.

It is home to the UK’s largest express freight operation and is a major air hub for the Royal Mail, DHL, TNT and UPS.
