National retail chain Boyes has officially opened its doors in the former Wilko unit in Newark-on-Trent, delivering a major boost to the town centre and re-anchoring the town’s key shopping destination.
The relocation of Boyes marks a significant milestone for the shopping centre, bringing back pre-pandemic levels of footfall and renewed vitality to the scheme. The store’s opening morning saw a strong turnout, with local shoppers welcoming the significant upsize of an already well known retailer in the town.
Robert Van De Heijden of Boyes commented, “We had a fantastic opening morning – it was brilliant to see so many people in the store, and we’re delighted with the warm welcome from the people of Newark. The new store has been really well received.”
The letting was brokered by Jack Shakespeare of FHP Property Consultants, acting on behalf of the landlord. He added, “It’s great to see Boyes open and trading in such a prominent unit. This is a massive win for the people of Newark and an important step in strengthening the retail offer in the town centre.”
The opening of Boyes is expected to support other local businesses by increasing foot traffic and reaffirming Newark’s position as a vibrant destination for shopping and community activity.
