FHP Property Consultants were recently instructed to value the Tara Kadampa Meditation Centre which is located at Ashe Hall in Etwall, six miles southwest  of Derby.

Ashe Hall is a substantial Grade II Listed Building which dates from 1869.  The property is set within 38 acres of formal garden grounds and woodland, whilst the accommodation comprises a mixture of teaching rooms, dormitories, gift shop, café and bed and breakfast.

Originally used as a private residence, the property has since been used for various purposes including hospital, preparatory school as well as a school for children with special needs.  In 1996 the hall and grounds were purchased by Tara KMC, and it is clear that the Buddhist Centre remains a popular destination for visitors all year round.

FHP’s Adam Wilson was instructed to value the property for secured lending purposes in order to help facilitate funding for an exciting new project which will include the construction of a new hall and classroom block together with upgrades to the existing accommodation. Adam Wilson commented:-

“This was both a challenging and exciting instruction.  Properties such as this are rarely brought to the market and so you have to rely more on your judgement as a valuer than on comparable evidence.  However, at the same time it was a privilege to look around such a fascinating place.  I have known about the Tara KMC for a number of years however I have never had the opportunity to look around it and I can honestly say it is well worth a trip out.”
