The FHP Residential Block Management team are pleased to introduce a new recycling scheme at the Park Wharf apartments on Haslam Street in conjunction with Nottingham City Council (NCC).

The recycling scheme, which is to be launched with collections beginning the week commencing 21st November, will allow residents to recycle certain items of rubbish in orange bin bags which are specially provided by the council. The orange bags are then to be placed into and collected from the same bin as the regular household waste. The orange recycling bags are separated out after collection and the recycling items are sent off to recycling plants.

The types of waste recycled make up about 36% of general household waste and will help NCC to reach their target of increasing the amount of recycled and composted household waste to 50% of total waste by 2020.

FHP Residential Block Management team is working closely with NCC and aims to launch similar recycling schemes to other city centre apartment blocks that they manage in order to provide a corporately responsible service to their clients.

Alice Foster from FHP comments ‘the introduction of the new recycling scheme at Park Wharf will be a positive start for FHP to co-ordinate the provision of the service to our other residential block clients. We hope that the orange bin bag method of recycling that Nottingham City Council has proposed will be a success due to the ease of recycling items that may have otherwise been thrown away with the general household waste.’
