The sale of the former Cromford Garden Centre has just completed to Cherry Lane Garden Centre. The sale, negotiated by Alastair Fearn of FHP Property Consultants on behalf of Tyrone Courtman and Nick Edwards Joint Fixed Charge Receivers, will see Cherry Lane Garden Centre redevelop the existing site to provide a new Garden Centre outlet, in line with their existing brand (www.cherry-lane.co.uk).
The buildings currently on site are predominantly greenhouses and in a dilapidated condition. This therefore made the site ripe for redevelopment, especially being located in a prominent position on the A6 and also set in stunning countryside.
Alastair Fearn of FHP said:-
“The problem with the site, from a development perspective however, is that it forms part of a steep slope and is also located adjacent to the World Heritage Site of Cromford Mill. The sloping nature of the site, restricts development opportunities and the sites proximity to the World Heritage Site has meant that the Local Authority control any development on the site to ensure that it is in keeping with the local area.”
“This “This therefore meant that a relatively restricted market was available. Despite this we did receive a relatively large amount of interest in the site, which predominantly came from investors and owner occupiers.”
