FHP are delighted to confirm three further deals at intu Derby, signing up two more premium fashion retailers for intu Derby’s affluent catchment, with Hobbs and Whistles added to the centres line up.

Whistles and Hobbs will open on the Upper Mall alongside BOSS, which opened at intu Derby last month and Hotel Chocolat, which launched a new café store concept there last year.

Phase Eight have signed a new lease and will be completing a full refit in the New Year.

New speciality coffee, casual dining and craft cocktail brand BEAR has also launched its first shopping centre location at intu Derby this month as part of its nationwide expansion strategy.

Alan Pearson, Director of FHP commented: “I am delighted to have secured a further trio of lettings for intu Derby, expanding the centres aspirational tenant mix and providing a strong line up of retailers alongside BOSS and Hotel Chocolat”.

Nick Round, Regional Managing Director at intu, said: “Aspirational retailers are continuing to open in the most popular destinations where they can be sure their stores will flourish and intu Derby offers exactly the right location for the premium brands choosing to take space here.

“The centre has a strong retail and leisure mix, 22 million footfall and an affluent catchment boosted by the number of high-earning professionals working and living in and around Derby.”

FHP are delighted to confirm a trio of new additions to the retail and catering offer at Intu Derby.  Leading international premium fashion brand Hugo Boss have opened a new 2,600ft² store on the first floor fashion mall showcasing the premium Boss collections including business wear, casual wear and accessorises, joining the existing aspirational retail line up at Intu Derby, situated adjacent to Hotel Chocolat which opened late last year.

Up and coming independent coffee brand BEAR is opening in October, their second store in the city, adding to their existing store on Iron Gate which opened 2 years ago and has been a great success.  The 3,000ft² store at Intu Derby forms part of Bear’s plans to launch a number of venues nationwide.  BEAR was founded in 2014 by entrepreneurs Craig Bunting and Michael Thorley, who took inspiration from Australia’s vibrant coffee shop culture to create a new speciality coffee, casual dining and craft bear and cocktail offer for the UK market.  This will be the brand’s fifth site with further opportunities scheduled to open later this year.

International footwear brand Skechers are fitting out their new 3,306ft² store on the ground floor mall, formerly occupied by Flying Tiger who have relocated within the Centre.

Alan Pearson, Director of FHP commented:-

“I am delighted to have secured three leading brands for Intu Derby providing a diverse product offer to Intu Derby’s shoppers.  The arrival of Hugo Boss continues to grow the aspirational fashion offer within the shopping centre for the wealthy catchment the centre benefits from, with the highest average salaries outside of London.

BEAR have been a great success since their opening in the city circa 2 years ago and I am delighted to have secured them for a second store underpinning their confidence in the city and to capitalise on the late night trade throughout the week, given the centre’s strong leisure offering from Showcase Cinema De Lux, Hollywood Bowl and Paradise Island Golf which we hope to grow with the grant of planning consent last month for further leisure space within the shopping centre.”

Craig Bunting, BEAR’s co-founder, said:

We’ve traded successfully on the high street for a few years so we’re excited to be taking space within such a hugely popular shopping centre for the first time. This forms part of our future expansion strategy as we explore how a proudly independent business like BEAR can flourish within a high footfall retail and leisure destination like intu Derby.”

Our ambition has always been to create something different for the UK by offering sociable spaces with a coffee-focused, all day and evening offer, so we think we can really complement intu Derby’s great mix of brands and provide something very special for its high footfall.”

Nottingham’s intu Victoria Centre has announced plans to invest £1m to transform its dining experience for shoppers.

The work, which is due to be completed in November, will change the look and feel of the Clocktower dining area, creating a more natural, social space for shoppers to either grab food on the go or stop for a leisurely lunch or dinner.

“This is an exciting time for Clocktower dining,” commented Nigel Wheatley, general manager at intu Victoria Centre.

“We always listen to our customers and are committed to providing new experiences that make their day out with us extra special. It’s clear that shoppers want more choice when it comes to both food options and budgets, and they also want to relax in a space that feels different to the main mall.

“With centre occupancy at an impressive 99%, we’re now able to make this investment and create a compelling space that offers our customers even more. Expect a big change in both tone and ambience, lots more natural elements and a mix of food kiosks for a quick bite to eat, alongside sit-down dining experiences perfect for family outings. We can’t wait to share the designs!”

As part of the transformation, the centre will welcome six new international food brands and local favourites, offering more choice for customers in terms of flexible dining options and price points.

Joining the recently opened pretzel specialist Auntie Anne’s is Triple Two Coffee, which launched earlier this week seeing intu Victoria Centre become home to the brand’s first store in the Midlands. Another first for the centre will be the inaugural UK opening for topped French fries specialist, Mr Frites, in October.

They will all welcome shoppers, alongside more recognisable high street names, including Muffin Break in September, as well as McDonald’s and noodle bar Chopstix, both of which are due to open in October.

Local success story, Clean Cut Kitchen, has also chosen intu Victoria Centre to continue building on the phenomenal impact of its initial healthy eating café on Derby Road, by opening its second city site in October.

Plans have also been unveiled for the centre’s first permanent entertainment offering in the form of virtual reality experience meetspaceVR. In another UK first, teams of up to eight will be able to step into a virtual reality and take on one of the epic challenges – including battling zombies, androids and drones.

Alan Pearson of FHP Property Consultants commented:-

“We are delighted to have secured an eclectic collection of catering brands for the launch of the Clocktower Dining Quarter which is set to open this October.  The £1m investment into the transformation of the first floor of the scheme will add to the vitality of the destination.  This is an exciting project and I am sure the shoppers of intu Victoria Centre will enjoy sampling the international flavours on offer.”

“With the changes to Clocktower dining, the arrival of meetspaceVR and, of course, our exciting mix of shops, intu Victoria Centre is now a real leisure destination,” added Nigel.

“We know that customers want more compelling experiences to share with family and friends and this new offering does just that. It is designed to attract people from further afield, allowing them to spend more time with us when they visit.”
