THAI street food will be on the menu for foodies in Nottingham in time for Christmas after another brand new restaurant has signed up at intu Victoria Centre.

Thaikhun has chosen the centre’s Clocktower dining area as the location for its first restaurant in the region following success in Manchester, Aberdeen, Oxford and Cambridge.

Offering an interactive dining experience and authentic Asian flavours, Thaikhun is expected to bring something completely different to the city.

Nigel Wheatley, general manager at intu Victoria Centre, said:

“The Clocktower dining area is approaching completion and we are pleased to announce Thaikhun as the latest restaurant to join us.

“All of the restaurants we have signed up so far are totally new to the city – and Thaikhun is no different. There isn’t anything like this in Nottingham at the moment, and we’re really excited to welcome them to the centre”.

Thaikhun will join Handmade Burger Co, Coast 2 Coast, Tortilla, Ed’s Easy Diner and Joe’s Kitchen in the new Clocktower dining area, which is set for completion ahead of the festive rush.

“We have never had such a diverse and attractive mix of retailers at intu Victoria Centre, and we’re looking forward to our brand new dining offering opening later this year,” added Nigel.

“Our remodelling works are very nearly complete and it is very exciting to think that we will be unveiling a really fresh and modern shopping centre to our customers in the coming months.

“We have attracted a number of top brands to the centre since we started work here, many who have never been in Nottingham before, and we are pleased to be continuing to enhance the retail and leisure mix in the city with our new arrivals”.

The let was agreed by Alan Pearson at Nottingham-based FHP. He said:

“Thaikhun is yet another completely new name for Nottingham and we’re delighted they have chosen intu Victoria Centre.

“The centre has attracted a string of new stores and restaurants to the city in recent months, and we are confident that Thaikhun will add yet another dimension to the thriving food and drink scene here”.

Thaikhun is a casual dining concept from the owners of Chaophraya Thai Restaurant Group and is inspired by owner Kim Kaewkraikhot’s time spent at her restaurant in Bangkok.

Intu Victoria Centre is continuing to attract leading national restaurant brands, securing Joe’s Kitchen, part of The Restaurant Group for their second restaurant in the development, alongside their sister brand Coast to Coast.

Joe’s Kitchen have signed for a double unit comprising approximately 4,563 sq ft on a new 25 year lease on the first floor of the Catering Quarter. The unit will benefit from frontage to the internal mall and the new clock tower atrium providing stunning double height space around the Grade II listed clock tower.

Alan Pearson, Director of FHP commented:

“We are delighted to sign The Restaurant Group for their second outlet in the Intu Victoria Centre Catering Quarter for what will be their second shopping centre unit as part of their rollout. This will follow the opening of Joe’s Kitchen at Intu Derby which FHP also acted on Intu’s behalf earlier this year.

Joe’s offer an all-day family dining which will appeal to Intu Victoria Centre’s 24 million shoppers it attracts each year”.

Johnny Buckle, Head of Leisure Acquisitions at The Restaurant Group said:

“Intu Victoria Centre is a prime shopping centre in the City of Nottingham attracting 24 million visitor per year so it is important that we have a presence here. Joe’s Kitchen will be a great addition offering customers a relaxed dining environment and something with a difference to offer at Coast to Coast, which will also feature in the new Catering Quarter”.

The new clock tower dining area is part of Intu Victoria Centre’s £42 million refurbishment programme due to complete later this year. This includes new interior, entrances, enhanced lighting and the opening of the cater quarter where we have contracts exchanged with Handmade Burger, Coast to Coast, Tortilla and Ed’s Easy Diner.

The new look and feel of Nottingham’s intu Victoria Centre is attracting top new retailers to the Midlands, such as KIKO MILANO, an Italian cosmetics brand that features a range of fashionable makeup, face and body treatments. The new 1,260 sq ft store will open this summer and is the brand’s first venture in the Midlands.

Swatch have signed up to a new 1,000 sq ft store opposite KIKO, which follows recent lettings to Urban Outfitters and Superdry in the southern mall.

Alan Pearson, Associate Director of FHP commented:

“2015 is going to be an exciting year for intu Victoria Centre with the completion of the £40 million refurbishment programme this autumn and the opening of the new Catering Quarter. We have exchanged contracts with a number of new restaurant brands for the city, with further operators under offer which will be announced shortly. KIKO securing for their first Midlands’ store demonstrates the quality of the environment we are creating”.

Martin Breeden, Regional Director of intu said:

“Retailer interest at intu Victoria Centre is really snowballing on the back of our mall refreshment. Last year, River Island, Urban Outfitters and Superdry opened and we are delighted to announce KIKO. We have 23 million customer visits a year to the centre and Nottingham has 60,000 full time students in Nottingham so I am confident this growing brand will trade really well”.

KIKO’s concept focuses on offering quality beauty and skincare products at an affordable price. The store which has a 10 year lease agreement will benefit from its prime centre location, close to other trend led retailers and near the newly refurbished event square opposite John Lewis.

Martin Breeden added:

“The remodeling and refurbishment has provided enhanced shop frontages, increased visibility, high quality finishes throughout and a large event area which enable us to deliver compelling experiences that attract customers more often, for longer and in turn, help our retailers to flourish”.

The project will provide a new two level catering cluster with feature entrance around the Grade II listed Clocktower, with pre-lettings including handmade burger Co, Coast 2 Coast, Tortilla and Ed’s Easy Diner.

FHP and JLL acted on behalf of intu, KLM on behalf of Swatch and Kiko represented themselves.

Alan Pearson, Director of FHP Property Consultants, is delighted to announce a further leisure letting to Italian restaurant, Zizzi who have taken a 3,000 sq ft unit, due to open this summer, opposite Eat Central, Wagamama and TGI Friday’s.

This follows the opening of Byron and Joe’s Kitchen which are due to open this spring. Enhancing intu Derby’s dining choices forms part of the Intu’s plans to create a quality shopping experience, which offers a varied blend of retail, dining and leisure.

We have got 25 million visitors per year so we are very confident that Zizzi, Byron Burger and Joe’s Kitchen will all trade well at intu Derby. These brands give customers a reason to visit us more often and stay longer, which in turn helps our shops and restaurants to flourish.”
